TBF News Alert 11.07.11 Tennessee 2011 State Champion - Fish Off --
On Friday November 4 the winner from the West State Tournament, Scott Towry, fishing with the
Tennessee River Fishing Adventures and the winner from the East State Tournament, Doug
Mims fishing with Harrison Bassmaster Federation Club had a fish off on the Cumberland River below Old Hickory Dam to determine the state champion. The two anglers met with President David Daniel at noon
on Thursday and were told where they would be fishing for the fish off. They were given about 4 hours to pre-fish the River. Neither one had ever fished on that body of water before.
On Friday each fished with an observer, from the Federation who had volunteered to go with them. Dewayne Dotson a director from the East and our Youth director and Alfred Lawless a director from the West. Not knowing how the fishing might be we did a Paper tournament. They could measure any fish over 12 inches and it was recorded by the observers. At the end of the tournament they came back to the Motel where the top 5 fish were converted into pounds and ounces. Scott had 5 fish that weighed 9.7 pounds and Doug had 3 fish that weighed 5.9 pounds.
