ANNUAL STATE MEETING MINUTES:
November 3, 2007
The meeting was called to order by President Ron Riley @ 8:40 a.m.
All Officers, Directors and Club Members present stood and introduced themselves and the club they represented. There was 29 clubs represented with a total of 39 members present.
Minutes of the November 2006 meeting were read by Ken Head and approved on a motion by Ed Bryant and seconded by Alfred Lawless.
Charles Mitchell went over each item on the Treasurer’s Report and on a motion by Ed Bryant and seconded by Jerry Jones, the Treasurer’s Report was accepted. Balance at this time stood at $32,327.98.
Vice President Ed Bryant gave a brief report on the 2007 State Divisional Tournament and thanked all who helped to make them a success.
Bruce Greig, Youth Director gave his report.
· 2007 Jr Tournament: June at New Johnsonville – 38 Kids took part. Thanked David Daniel for helping set up.
· National Jr Bass Tournament held at the FLW Championship in August at Pine Bluff. Everything was 1st class. Bruce passed out a packet to each Director and urged them to help start a Jr Bass Club. We now have only 6 clubs in the state. For additional information on Jr Bass Clubs, contact Bruce Greig. Through the National Federation, there will be school Bass Clubs. It was announced that in January 08, the University of Tennessee will have a fishing team. Hopefully the 2008 Jr State Tournament will be held in June in Dayton, Tn.
· Reel Kids Contests: The 2008 State Championship for the Reel Kids will be held in Cleveland in August. There were 453 Reel Kids events in 2007 with 23,000 kids taking part. Contact Bruce Greig for additional information on holding a Reel Kids event in 2008. The ages will be 7 – 10 and 11 – 14 as of August 1st.
Carl Guffey – Conservation Director gave his report on the following.
· The $1000.00 we received from the TBF, Inc. was divided equally between the 4 Region and with federal money, we were able to turn that into $4000.00.
· Most of his help on East Tennessee was done by Girl Scouts
· 18” Smallmouth length for all of Tennessee except Kentucky Lake
· Controversy over the Spotted Bass: More details to follow but urged all fishermen to take all Spotted Bass out of the lakes
· Contact TWRA web page to offer help in building fish habitat

OLD BUSINESS:
· 2008 Southern Divisional: Cooter Pond in Alabama – Ron Riley thanked all the team members for their cooperation. Team finished in 3rd place and won $5,000.00.
· FLW Championship: held in August at Pine Bluff, Arkansas
· Sponsorships: President Riley gave a brief update on all Tn Bass
Federation sponsors and announced that he was seeking more
NEW BUSINESS:
Federation Trailer: Report on the condition of the tournament trailer and the possible need of another trailer to hold the release tank and weigh=in tanks. President Riley to check into price of repairs, new flat bed tandem wheel trailer, the possibility of requiring a trailer in our tournament contract or renting a flat bed trailer. His report will be given in February 08.
BID BOAT: approx. $7800.00 in Ranger bucks to be used to purchase a 188VS with 150 Yamaha. Bids will be taken and opened in February 08
2008 TOURNAMENTS AND SPECIAL MEETINGS:
· 2008 State Divisionals: West – September 25-26-27 at Pickwick Lake. East – October 9-10-11 at Chickamauga Lake out of Dayton, Tn.
· 2008 National Federation Championship: April 08 at Lake Wylie in conjunction with a FLW Tour Tournament. Representing Tennessee will be Wade Caperton and Ty Garrett.
· 2008 Southern Divisional: at Lake Norman – June 08 in North Carolina. The State Team was announced with Mark Pirkle and Michael Patterson in attendance.
· FLW Championship/Jr Bass Championship: to be announced
· February Board Meeting: To be announced. For any proposed changes the deadline is January 2008
On Line Registration
Ricky England gave a brief Power Point presentation on how to renew and update 2008 club roster. Every club is urged to use this method. Realizing that some will have problems, the Secretary passed out copies of 2007 rosters for use. For additional information, contact Jason Risley, Ron Riley or Ken Head.
PROPOSED CHANGE TO THE TOURNAMENT RULES:
· The proposed change to the Tournament Rules to allow for a $100.00 discount on Divisional tournament entry fees for club sponsoring a Jr. Bass Club was discussed. A motion was made by Charles Mitchell of Kentucky Lake Bass Anglers and seconded by Jerry Jones of Reelfoot Lake Bass Anglers to accept. The motion failed by due to lack of 2/3 rds affirmative vote of the members present.
· Proposed change to require each contestant in the Jr Bsss Club championship to pay a $10.00 entry fee was then discussed. On a motion by Dewayne Lowe of Cleveland Bassmasters and second by Alfred Lawless of United Bass Anglers of Middle Tennessee, the motion to accept PASSED.
ELECTION OF DIRECTORS FOR REGION 1 & REGION 4:
· Region 1: Larry Dunlap, Jerry Jones, Terry Wolfe, Jim Holloway and Steve Smith
· Region 4: Ron Poss, Keith Harmon, Michael Patterson and Carl Guffey. We still need another Director in the Tri Cities Area.
ELECTIONS OF OFFICERS FOR 2008:
· President: Ron Riley was re-elected by acclamation
· Vice President: Ricky England and Ed Bryant were nominated for the Office. By a secret ballot of the clubs represented, Ed Bryant was re-elected Vice President.
· Secretary; Ken Head was re-elected by acclamation
· Treasurer: Charles Mitchell was re-elected by acclamation
ANNOUNCEMENTS: President Riley gave a report on the condition of Carl Robertson’s son who was in an automobile accident on August 22nd. He asked that any member wishing could donate some money to his Recovery Fund.
DOOR PRIZES: several lucky members left with some nice prizes
